Ian is our Head of Property and specialises in advising corporate clients, with a particular emphasis on owner managed and entrepreneurial businesses.
Ian joined haysmacintyre as a partner in 2011 and has a wide range of experience extending from the small to medium enterprise (SME) sector through to companies listed in the FTSE 250. After 24 years at a 'Group A' firm, twelve of which as a partner, Ian worked as an interim director of finance at a large family owned property group before joining us. His time away from the accounting profession gave invaluable exposure to being 'on the other side of the fence' which he brought back with him to the profession to assist clients.
He has particular experience in the property and retail sectors and in helping clients with their technical accounting issues, whether under UK GAAP or IFRS. Apart from being an FCA, Ian is also a Chartered Tax Adviser and combines advice on the commercial and accounting issues with their tax implications. He strongly believes in providing advice that is practical and pragmatic which complements the wider business drivers and in working in 'partnership' with clients.
Outside of work, Ian is a keen viewer of rugby union and supporter of Saracens. He also plays tennis and enjoys photography, walking, attending air shows and watching F1 racing.
Natasha trained and qualified with haysmacintyre and has been a partner since 2009. She heads up our Creative, Media and Technology (CMT) team and her clients include digital agencies, design, fashion, retail and ecommerce businesses and technology companies. She often acts for the individuals behind these businesses.
Natasha has clients in varying degrees of their lifecycle and has provided high level support across a range of commercial and financial issues, delivering a personal and cost-effective service. The services she and her team advise clients on, over and above annual compliance services, include structuring for investment, share option schemes, R&D tax credits, extraction of profits, budgeting and planning for an exit. Natasha often acts as a sounding board for her clients.
She also has vast experience in transaction support assignments and her recent experience includes due diligence on a fast growth technology company, advising on a shareholder dispute of an entertainment company, interim Financial Director role for multi-site, growing clubs, due diligence for a successful client acquisition, and financial forecasts for a fashion brand.
Natasha has been involved in Young Guns and Startup Awards for many years. During this time she has developed a great understanding of entrepreneurs and their changing needs which enables her to offer her clients a tailored, high quality service.
Natasha regularly speaks at seminars and runs workshops on a broad range of topics including accounting updates and becoming investment ready and has written several articles/blogs for the CMT sector. She has spoken at or is involved with the Accelerator Academy, BIMA, the British Fashion Council, the UK Fashion & Textiles Association and Angel Academe. Natasha also runs our exceptional female entrepreneur network (HEFE) and is a member of The Sorority.
Notably, Natasha has been honoured as one of Brummell Magazine’s 30 Inspirational Women Champions of Diversity.
Neil is a highly qualified, experienced accountant who has worked both in practice and in industry. He has specialised in advising entrepreneurs and family businesses across a variety of sectors including manufacturing, property, hospitality, entertainment, fashion and the service industry. For several years, he headed up our Creative, Media and Technology group. Neil is also an active member of the Property group and has advised extensively on the structuring of inward investment in UK property by non-resident corporations and individuals.
He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ACA), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CTA).
Neil has a passion for most sports and in his spare time is an active member of Wentworth Golf Club.
Adam specialises exclusively in charities and not for profit organisations and works with a variety of schools and religious charities.
He mainly works in statutory audit and accountancy, but also advises clients on internal audit training and outsourcing, financial systems reviews, recruitment of key financial personnel, new SORP implementation and advice on policy setting. Adam is part of our Forensic Services team specialising in forensic accounting, fraud investigations and the production of expert and advisory reports in connection with non-litigious matters.
Adam joined haysmacintyre in 2001 from Deloitte & Touche where he spent two years in the Corporate Finance department. Before this, he trained and qualified at KPMG where he worked mainly with large well-known charities. He also spent nine months working in KPMG's forensic accounting department.
After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1986, Murtaza joined KPMG in London where, in addition to carrying out audit and special assignments such as mergers, management buyouts and due diligence, he was in charge of the tax work in the department. In 1990, Murtaza left KPMG to start Trustient. Under his leadership, Trustient gained an excellent reputation for auditing and advising clients in the not for profit sector. In 2006, Trustient merged with haysmacintyre and Murtaza became one of our partners.
As well as external and internal auditing, Murtaza has been involved in all aspects of advising charities including Charity Commission review visits, advice on mergers, structure and set up of trading subsidiaries, trustee training, risk assessment, business plan facilitation, set up of affiliated overseas charities, overseas branch offices, donor audits and advice on internal controls.
Murtaza heads up our general Charities sector team. His portfolio consists of a wide range of charities and not for profit organisations including grant making charities, medical research charities, law centres and citizen advice bureaus, environmental, disability, conflict resolution and human rights charities, charities working internationally, membership organisations, lobbying organisations, social enterprises, and training and educational bodies. He also holds the Diploma in Charity Accounting.
During his career, Murtaza has held the following positions:
1999 - 2004: Treasurer of the Institute for War and Peace Reporting, a charity based in London with more than 20 field offices and affiliated charities in USA and South Africa.
2006 - 2014: One of the founding trustees of Health, Education and Resources for Tomorrow (HEART), working with young children in Africa and India providing grants for schooling and welfare to needy families.
2008 - 2014: Trustee and Treasurer of Small Charities Coalition, a membership charity, whose aims are to assist small charities by matching skills with other charities.
Murtaza is a regular contributor to charity publications and speaks at sector conferences. He uses much of his spare time working for voluntary organisations and socialising.
