Katharine advises individuals, businesses and trusts on all aspects of their tax compliance responsibilities and advisory requirements.
With a focus on private client issues, Katharine provides practical assistance to clients on a wide range of issues, including:
- Individuals coming to and leaving the UK
- Property ownership, including the recently introduced Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings (ATED)
- Capital Gains Tax
Her clients also benefit from her advice on:
- Self employment
- Tax planning
- HMRC enquiries and International Information Exchange agreements
She has particular expertise in Inheritance Tax and estate planning as well as UK and offshore trusts, and has established haysmacintyre’s new range of probate services.
Katharine is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser and is a member of the Taxation Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS). Katharine has previously worked for Big 4 and Top 20 advisory firms.
She has often been quoted in the general and tax press, presents at seminars and hopes to translate sometimes overly technical tax issues and opportunities into plain English.
Away from the office, Katharine enjoys travel, wildlife and photography and combining all three whenever she can.
Andrew is one of the key players in haysmacintyre's Corporate team and specialises in advising start-ups, entrepreneurs and fast growth businesses.
He is both a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser. These dual qualifications and broad commercial experience make Andrew well placed to advise his clients proactively on the commercial and tax issues they face.
Andrew works with clients across a wide range of sectors including technology, consultancy and financial markets on the full range of management, commercial and financial challenges they face.
He also advises many of these entrepreneurial individuals in their own right as private clients.
Andrew sits on the firm’s Management Board as Head of Services.
Michelle is a Director in our Business Tax team, providing tax advisory and compliance services to a portfolio of predominantly growing SMEs and large groups. She joined haysmacintyre in 2015 from a Top 10 firm where she had trained and progressed to the role of Corporate Tax Manager. Whilst training, Michelle qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and became a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians.
Michelle enjoys engaging with her clients to obtain a deep understanding of their business goals and ambitions, how this interacts with their tax profile and appetite for appropriate planning. She believes this approach is fundamental to assisting her clients from a tax perspective and for spotting business opportunities. Her specialist areas of advice are employee share option schemes, research and development tax relief, capital allowances and corporate restructuring.
Michelle also co-leads the firm’s Property sector team and is a member of our Corporate Leadership Team, investing time in devising business and sector strategy. She enjoys attending various networking events, seminars, writing content and driving the firm’s partnership with the UK PropTech Association.
In her spare time, Michelle enjoys swimming, going to the gym as well as singing, acting and dancing – she is a former West End performer!
Trevor has over 30 years’ experience in tax, initially working for HMRC and then training with a top ten firm. He has previously worked as a Tax Partner at a niche media firm, and more recently as head of Private Client tax at a top 50 media and entertainment firm. He joined haysmacintyre in 2017, and became partner in 2019.
Trevor has broad knowledge across all taxes, with clients in a wide range of sectors. He is primarily focused on private client work, advising on issues such as domicile and residence, the tax consequences of immigration and emigration, inheritance tax planning, capital gains tax, business structuring, professional partnerships, trusts, property investment and development, and HMRC investigations.
He also deals with the interaction between corporate and personal taxes, Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) and VAT.
Outside work, Trevor’s interests centre around his family and sports, mainly as a spectator now, being an avid follower of the NFL and Manchester United.
Tim is our Head of Tax and joined the firm in September 2019. He provides practical, holistic and rounded advice to entrepreneurs and owners of large private businesses, as well as large listed and multinational corporations, with a particular focus on delivering long term strategic and sustainable growth.
Previously he was with Mazars LLP, joining as a Tax Partner in 2006, becoming Head of Tax in 2011 and then Head of Clients and Markets in 2017. He was twice elected a member of the UK firm’s Executive Board and held several international leadership roles. Prior to joining Mazars, Tim spent twelve years in the Big 4, worked in industry in financial services and trained as an HMRC tax inspector.
Tim has worked closely with such bodies as ICAEW and CTA, is a regular contributor to Accountancy Age and has led the debate on several industry topics, in particular around tax transparency, technology and innovation in professional services, and diversity and inclusion.
Outside of work, Tim is a passionate Welsh rugby and McLaren F1 fan.
