    Chief Information Officer

    Simon joined haysmacintyre in 1999 and is Chief Information Officer with over twenty years of experience in enterprise infrastructure systems, IT service management, project management, C-level management and security. The first eight years of his career were at one of the world’s leading electronics conglomerates.

    As a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) since 2005, Simon’s main area of expertise is security and he regularly delivers security and IT system reviews and offers advice to clients on the Data Protection Act, Payment Card Industry Data Security standard (PCI DSS), Cyber Essentials, penetration testing and post cyber-attack investigations.

  • Nick Bustin

    Employment Tax Director

    Nick is an employment tax director at haysmacintyre.

    Nick advises on a wide range of issues including: PAYE and National Insurance; benefits in kind; PAYE settlement agreements; expense policy reviews; employment status; optional remuneration arrangements, National Minimum Wage and providing support throughout an HMRC Employer Compliance review. He provides practical guidance and solutions to clients and has a good understanding of the ‘client’s perspective’ being a trustee of a charity himself and the advice they seek from their professional advisers.

    Nick has been working with a wide range of charities concerning the impending changes to the IR35 legislation which came into effect from 6 April 2021. Since March 2020 Nick has been working with clients, helping them through the challenges of the pandemic, including:

    • Dealing with the job retention scheme
    • Tax issues related to remote working
    • Employees who are working from home but abroad

    Nick is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

  • Ian Cliffe

    Partner, Head of Transaction Services

    Ian has been a Partner with us since 2001 and also leads our Corporate Finance division.

    He is both a qualified ACA and a qualified member of the Institute’s Corporate Finance Faculty. In addition to being a general practice partner offering general business and financial advice to his diverse client base, Ian also provides specialist corporate finance services including deal negotiations, due diligence, reporting accountants work on IPOs and business plan evaluation. 

    Over the last few years, Ian has advised on a large number of both public and private transactions in the sub £50m market cap sector. This has ranged from due diligence assignments, financial modelling and working capital projections, private and public fundraisings, group reconstructions and MBIs/MBOs to AIM, NEX and Standard listings - a number of these transactions involving international structuring.

    As a general practice partner, Ian has built up specialisms in the creative, media and technology sector, advising from the embryonic phase, through the life cycle of growth and fund raising to strategic positioning and exit.

    Ian prides himself on being able to give business and strategic advice to all his clients, drawing on the commercial experience gained from corporate finance transactions and his previous role as managing partner and applying this knowledge to his clients.

  • Christopher Cork


    Chris’s clients operate in the media, technology and financial services sectors and are typically investor-backed.
    Working closely with scale-up privately backed enterprises through to listed groups, Chris has developed a detailed understanding of the financial pressures faced by these businesses and specialises in guiding them through the challenges they face.
    Chris’s primary areas of expertise are corporate reporting assignments, including statutory audit, acquisition due diligence, and Initial Public Offering requirements. He also specialises in the construction of financial models.
    Chris is a regular speaker on financial management matters. He is a lead presenter of Home Grown’s ‘haysmacintyre presents… ‘ series of events for entrepreneurs and is an official ‘Guru’ for the Creative Entrepreneurs’ learning and development platform and events programme.

    He is also a lead member of haysmacintyre’s North American international desk, working closely with clients and investors on both sides of the Atlantic.

  • David Cox

    Partner, Head of Audit & Assurance

    David joined haysmacintyre in 1998 as a trainee, worked his way through the ranks and became a Partner in 2006. His diverse client portfolio spans property, technology, motor dealers and manufacturing.

    David is the head of our Audit and Assurance department managing a team of over 190. Our audit team continues to grow and develop, embracing new technologies and initiatives in an ever-changing and challenging environment. He leads a team that are dedicated to ensure our audit quality and client service is of the highest standard.
