MSI Month case study - White Clarke Group
This is the first in a series of case studies we will be sharing as part of MSI Month which show our work with MSI Global Alliance (MSI), the 7th largest alliance in the world with over 250 members. This case study shows how we supported the international requirements of a long standing client, which required a global approach.
White Clarke Group, the world’s leader in automotive and asset finance software solutions became a client of the firm in 1997 on incorporation, when it was based in the UK.
As the business expanded, a number of standalone entities were incorporated by the client. We suggested grouping the companies ensuring transfer pricing, withholding tax and all cross charges were considered and structured to benefit the business. As the business expanded into Brazil, China and the US, we restructured the activities to create a truly worldwide group with clients in over 30 countries.
Working with our colleagues in MSI Global Alliance we led the restructuring and co-ordinated all the advice presenting the client with an implementation plan throughout the world.
We are now looking to create the Group’s worldwide Transfer Pricing documentation, which is required by law to demonstrate that the Group is recognising profits in each jurisdiction on a fair basis. We are the lead advisers but the work will require input and liaison with the US, Canadian and Australian members of MSI.
We were delighted to receive this feedback from Perry Scanlon, White Clarke Group’s Group Finance Director:
“Group expansion, with the complexities of international tax and accounting rules, is always a concern due to the need to ensure all areas are covered and up to date with ever changing rules. Working with haysmacintyre from a UK perspective and internationally via their global alliance MSI, has meant that we have been able to source all our advice centrally without having to search for local advisers. In addition to this, being a UK group and having haysmacintyre control this, ensures we are covered from a UK perspective as well.”
