SEIS was introduced in the Finance Act 2012 and will apply to qualifying shares issued after 6 April 2012 and before 6 April 2017.

The Government seems intent in these straitened times on reducing what it deems to be “tax avoidance”, in whatever form this may take. On the other hand, in a welcome move, the top rate of income tax will be reduced to 45% and the Annual Investment Allowance (for capital allowances) increased to £250,000. The question is therefore whether next months’ Budget will give more than it takes away!
