As a part or newly qualified accountant, deciding where to continue your career is vitally important. You need to consider the training support you will be given as well as the working environment and the real prospects for future progressions.

haysmacintyre offers motivated professionals an outstanding opportunity to work within our Audit and Assurance Departmnet. Demand for our services continues to grow at such a pace that we are constantly seeking part and newly qualified staff.

Why should you continue your career at haysmacintyre?

Excellent training and support
During a three year training contract, each accountant will receive 450 days of training. haysmacintyre accountants are frequently prize winners in the ICAEW examinations. There is an established mentoring system and you are assigned a mentor from day one who will remain a valuable source of guidance and advice throughout your career here.

A really friendly atmosphere
Yes, of course all accountancy firms say this but we really mean it here. Currently we have 23 partners and 80 other professionals, you will get to know everyone personally within a short space of time. The fact that we are all here in one building and have an open door policy makes it even easier to ensure you know everybody.

All you would expect from a top 30 firm
We know that you have an eye on the longer term and that you will want a firm on your CV that is synonymous with high quality professional advice, rigorous training and best working practice. Our offices are modern (we only moved here two years ago) and pleasant. We have invested heavily in state-of-the-art technology for document management, e-audit and internal communications.

A great location
Holborn is conveniently situated between the City and the West End – you can walk to Covent Garden in around 15 minutes, and to Bank in pretty much the same time. It’s a few minutes walk from Chancery Lane tube station (Central Line) and about 10 minutes from Holborn (Piccadilly line). Buses stop outside which go directly to mainline stations Victoria, Waterloo, Liverpool Street and London Bridge. Plus there are many bars, cafes, restaurants and shops almost on our doorstep.

A good social life
As well as a reasonable work-life balance we offer structured and informal social gatherings for those who want to be involved.

Varied client and work experience
At haysmacintyre you will enjoy working for a range of clients from not-for-profit organisations to corporate clients spanning entrepreneurial start ups to listed clients in many sectors - particularly in the property, media and entertainment, technology and manufacturing sectors. This means you will gain exposure to a variety of sectors and clients which provide varied and enjoyable work experience. We also offer an exchange programme to Melbourne in conjunction with another MSI member firm.

Early responsibility
Our commitment to training, the quality of our mentoring/supervision programmes and our investment in technology means that those of you who demonstrate initiative and potential will receive early responsibility – which is both satisfying and good for your CV.

Good short term career prospects
We expect our newly qualified accountants to be promoted to assistant managers within six to nine months and manager within a year after that. Our promotion process is transparent too – we show what senior positions are available and the work that is involved and encourage all those who are eligible to submit their application.

Long term career prospects
Around a third of our partners trained with the firm. Two of our present senior managers will enter the partnership this year. If you work hard and commit to the firm, there is no reason why you shouldn’t consider partnership as a realistic – albeit suitably stretching – goal. For those whose long term aspirations are not within private practice, you can expect your haysmacintyre experience to make you a highly marketable candidate.

How do you apply to haysmacintyre?
Typically, we expect candidates to have the following:

  • Mathematics A level (preferred)
  • A good degree (min. 2:1) any discipline
  • 300 UCAS Tariff points
