Richard Weaver is Head of our award winning Charity and Not For Profit UnitHe also sits on haysmacintye’s Management Board.
 
Richard is a technical yet pragmatic partner and sees his role not only as an external audit partner responsible to trustees, but also as a resource for management.  Richard’s client base is varied including grant receiving, grant making and service delivery charities in arts, culture, education, medical research, environment and welfare sectors.  Richard also has a specialism in the independent schools sector.
 
Richard also provides internal audit work for some of the UK’s larger charities, where the more detailed financial systems and control environments, risk assessments, governance arrangements and operational reviews are required.
 
An accomplished speaker, he organises and lectures at our trustee training courses and is regularly invited to speak at conferences on finance and governance issues affecting charities.  He was also invited to speak at the Nigerian ICAEW conference in 2010 on the regulation and governance of charities as part of their drive to introduce a Charities Act in Nigeria.  Richard holds the Diploma in Charity Accountingfrom the ICAEWis a Chartered Accountant and holds a Degree in Law.
 
In his spare time Richard is an avid motorsport fan, and in particular motorcycles and powerboats.

The toolkit aims to give trustees the knowledge and tools they need to manage risks and protect their charity from harm and abuse and is available on the Commission’s website.
