Kathryn Burton trained and qualified with the firm and was appointed partner in April 2009.

Specialising exclusively in the not for profit sector, Kathryn works with a variety of charities, institutes, societies, schools and other not for profit organisations and is a holder of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Diploma in Charity Accounting.

She mainly works in statutory audit and accountancy, but additionally provides advice on financial system reviews, implementation of regulatory changes as well as best practice and policy matters.

Kathryn is responsible for updating staff on emerging issues in the charity and not for profit unit, delivers internal training courses and speaks at seminars. Although a keen theatre-goer and socialiser, her spare time is now mostly occupied by her young children.

This edition concentrates on protecting charities from harm given the release this year of Chapter 3 of the Charity Commission online toolkit, Fraud and Financial Crime. The toolkit aims to give trustees the knowledge and tools they need to manage risks and protect their charity from harm and abuse and is available on the Commission’s website.
