George has been a partner for nearly 20 years advising a wide range of corporate, professional and private clients and, as such, has an extensive wealth of eclectic commercial experience and expertise. A number of George’s clients are long standing and value the ability to seek his views on a broad range of specific and strategic issues. As such, George spends a great deal of his time providing proactive and reactive consultancy advice.
Corporate clients
George acts for a variety of corporate clients including antiquarian book sellers, advertising agencies, brokers (he has a number of FSA regulated clients and provides the specialist advice required by insurance brokers and companies), retailers, property companies, livery companies, trade associations, training companies, equipment manufacturers and distributors, professional practices, trusts, pension schemes and landed estates. He also advises a number of corporate finance funds and assists in their acquisition of companies and investments. A number of the corporate clients are owner managed businesses.
Property companies
There are a number of property investment and trading companies within George’s portfolio where he provides both compliance and advisory services. He also advises many businesses where property is a critical element, for example, in pubs, and restaurants. He manages the firm’s specialist pooling scheme administration and accounting service which is used by charities to pool properties and or securities to achieve a number of cost, risk and reward advantages.
Professional partnerships
George advises several partnerships both small (1-2 partners) and large (over 50 partners). In particular he acts for four firms of solicitors and produces a benchmarking study enabling mid-sized law firms to compare their profitability with firms of a similar fee income size. He has also previously been the firm's finance partner and is able to use this practical experience for the benefit of his clients.
Landed estates
George also acts for a number of landed estates located throughout the country in Yorkshire, Cambridge, the Lake District, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Norfolk. These estates, owned by trusts, companies or by private individuals and George advises them on a range of matters including personal and family issues as well as the usual commercial and business matters.
George is originally from Huddersfield although he now lives in Chiswick, West London. When he is not ferrying his three children to their various sports and social activities, he enjoys playing golf and watching the rugby at Wasps, where he is a season ticket holder. He holds a gun license and enjoys the occasional shoot.
