David Riley is a general practice partner with many years’ experience of advising businesses and private individuals.

David heads the firm’s Real Estate Unit and has expertise in structuring corporate transactions and reorganisations, property and non property related and from both an accounting and tax viewpoint considering the implications for a company and its shareholders.

He has dealt as reporting accountant for flotations, for acquisitions and disposals for both public and private companies. In addition, he has taken responsibility on behalf of clients for detailed negotiations with vendors or purchasers in dealing with the structure of the purchase and sale of companies.  In particular his skills and experience are based on the interaction of shareholder and corporate taxation and the need to adopt a combined approach to tax planning. It is here that his vast and broadly based experience gained from before and over two recessions can be put to full use.

An expanding part of his portfolio is advising private clients both UK domiciled and non domiciliaries.

In addition, David has considerable experience of cross border issues from both an accounting and taxation perspective. He is a director of MSI Global Alliance, an international association of independent professional firms with some 250 firms in over 100 countries worldwide.

David is a lifelong, passionate and moderately successful racing sailor and is involved in the administration of the sport on both a professional and voluntary level.  He is a volunteer Harbour Commissioner for a south coast port having responsibility for governance and accountability for this public body.
