David acts for a variety of corporate entities from start-up entrepreneurs to listed companies. His clients are from a broad range of sectors including real estate, motor dealers, manufacturing, and media. David specialises in valuations, financial due diligence investigations and the preparation of financial forecasts/business plans.
Technical
David heads up the Firm’s accounting technical department. With the introduction of more complex accounting standards clients are increasingly in need of advice and assistance with various accounting or financial reporting issues. The proposed introduction of the Financial Reporting Standard for Medium-sized Entities (FRSME) in 2013 will introduce new rules and requirements to a large number of companies and David is advising clients on its impact. He has developed an expertise in accounting for share options under IFRS 2 and FRS 20 and is instrumental in the Firm’s expertise of intangible asset valuations required by IFRS 3.
Services to Small Caps
David acts for a number of small listed companies on both AIM and the full list. As well as acting as statutory auditor to three listed companies he provides specialised services to a number of non-audit clients. Ethical standards now prevent auditors from performing certain non-audit work for their audit clients and David provides various accounting, valuation and due-diligence services to those clients.
iXBRL
David heads up the haysmacintyre iXBRL “taskforce” and has established solutions for both existing and new clients. Please see our dedicated iXBRL webpage for more information.
Valuations
David performs business and share valuations for clients for a variety of different reasons including shareholder disputes, exiting shareholders, probate and acquisitions.
Forensic accounting
David is part of our forensic services team specialising in forensic accounting and fraud investigations.
Other priorities
Outside of work David is the proud father of baby Allegra and a keen golfer (although the latter doesn’t get much of a look in these days)
