Anne's early career was spent with Coopers and Lybrand and this was followed by a period with two middle ranked city partnerships. It was during her early career with Coopers & Lybrand that she developed a particular interest in tax, initially in the corporate area and latterly involving more private client work.
Anne is an FCA as well as a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) reflecting her private client specialisation. Recently she joined the ICAEW Tax Investigation Group as this area is becoming an increasingly large part of her work.
Anne is a regular contributor to Moneywise and Private Client Business (a Sweet & Maxwell publication). In addition she is press trained in radio and has featured regularly as an expert in her field, on Radio 5. Her personable approach means that she is able to cut through the technical language and present taxation advice in plain English.
Anne’s particular area of specialisation is private clients and the not for profit sector. She works with numerous private individuals and partnerships, advising on issues ranging from Estate and succession planning to offshore structures.
In the not for profit sector Anne advises on direct taxation matters including employment taxes. Recently she has had considerable success in negotiating on behalf of an independent school following a revenue investigation, and achieved significant savings.
Anne is also part of our forensic services team specialising in the preparation of expert witness and advisory reports and acting as a Court witness when called upon.
Anne’s personal interests hint at why she has been successful in building a strong private client base in both the Arts and world of sport. In her competitive days she was a successful oarswoman and hockey player, and latterly a keen owner and follower of horses. Her interest in sport extends to rugby union where, along with her husband, she is a supporter of harlequins RFC. She also manages to get to most of the England matches. She is the, voluntary, Treasurer of The Rowing Foundation, a charity that assists youth and disability rowing via UK rowing clubs. With her husband and daughter she regularly attends the theatre and ballet, being a friend of the Royal Opera House, and she is a frequent visitor (and, as she admits, more than occasional purchaser) at galleries and art exhibitions.
