tax investigation service

Our Tax Investigations Service is designed to reimburse the costs of our professional fees in the event clients are investigated by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

Tax enquiries can be harrowing experiences which can be costly and time consuming but the right defence helps to ensure that you can fight the Revenue on an equal footing. Too many taxpayers are forced to accept unreasonable demands from the Revenue as the costs of proper representation are too high.

In addition to this, over the last few years HMRC has increased its investigatory powers when conducting tax enquiries. Tax Inspectors can now conduct activities without launching a formal tax enquiry including:

• Visits to business premises
• Conducting record keeping reviews
• Requesting the production of documentation

As a result, we are now increasingly concerned at the costs these enquiries can incur. Enquiries can be chosen at random and typically a thorough defence can cost several thousands of pounds. We believe our Tax Investigations Service represents excellent value for money and we strongly recommend that all clients subscribe.

If you have any questions about the Service or would like to subscribe, please consult your usual contact at the firm or Nigel Landsman on 020 7969 5549 or by email on nlandsman@haysmacintyre.com

The Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR) set out today the details of which government departments will have to cut their spending and by how much. The cuts are necessary as the public finances are in a poor state. Indeed, the Chancellor’s open sentence was “Today is the day Britain steps back from the brink”.
