As a chairman of Sport Taekwondo UK , Jeremy will be part of the team that leads the sport through to the Olympics and will ensure that the elite athlete programme of Olympic Taekwondo delivers its performance goals.
His role will also require him to strengthen the National Governing Body’s (NGB’s) governance processes and finances in order to support the achievement of its objectives. The sport looks to build on its commercial proposition ahead of London 2012 and other major international taekwondo events.
Commenting on his new role, Jeremy says “Taking on this role is a great achievement for the firm – it is testament to the hard work and dedication of the sports unit at haysmacintyre, whose efforts have helped the firm gain recognition within the industry. I look forward to building on the recent successes of STUK commercially and competitively, and to being a part of the winning team at London 2012.”
Jeremy heads up the sports unit at haysmacintyre, which audits over 20 sports NGBs and advises a number of commercial organisations and individuals in the sports sector. This includes sports sponsorship companies, fitness industry specialists and individual athletes, as well as charities.
While Jeremy is a keen sportsman himself, it was important that the role of Chairman went to someone independent of existing taekwondo governing bodies and who didn’t partake in the sport personally, to ensure an effective and non biased strategy could be implemented. Jeremy is a regular speaker at sports seminars and has regular dialogue with Sports Councils and CCPR on business matters affecting NGBs and sports as a whole.
