I am very pleased to have been selected as one of four finalists in the nominations for
Tax Writer of the Year Award 2011, which itself is a part of the Taxation Awards 2011.
I have been a regular writer in various publications for over 15 years. With one publication, my monthly contributions have been unbroken for all of that time. I also publish in a wide range of publications, and each calls for a different style or approach. Over the last year or so I have widened my scope to include blogs and tweets, both of which require a different approach to the usual printed media. I find this variety refreshing, and it helps keep my interest in written communication alive.
Writing is satisfying in itself, but it is also wonderful to be recognised as an authority on a topic area, a thought leader, and simply as a “contributor” to the debate. That’s what this nomination does.
Of course, I want to win the award itself. But in the meantime, being chosen as a finalist is a significant accolade in which I take considerable pleasure.
