A large number of our partners and managers gathered in our conference room during lunchtime today to learn about the new tax investigation service that we are launching for clients during the summer.
In essence, the service allows personal, corporate, VAT, employment tax and not for profit clients to pay a minimal annual fee that covers the cost of professional fees should they become involved in a tax investigation.
It was interesting to learn that whilst the average cost of an investigation is a modest £3,000, it is not that unusal for the cost to be over £50,000.
With the Government focused on plugging the huge budget deficit and HMRC driving a “dash for cash” campaign to get as much money in as possible, investing in such a service – whether it’s to cover your personal or corporate tax affairs, looks like something that most clients will be keen to learn more about.
