Schools changing VAT position for agency commission PUBLISHED IN not for profit

With the changes in VAT regime for agency commission, schools which have previously been unregistered for VAT purposes, may well, with other potentially VATable income, breach the threshold for registration.

Schools are advised to reconsider their VAT position in the light of the changes, and the forthcoming increase in VAT to 20% from January.  There may well be good reasons for now registering for VAT, or restructuring activities via trading company to obtain the most efficient solution.
