Nigerian charities - Good governance and regulation in Civil Society PUBLISHED IN not for profit

I’ve just returned from speaking at the ICAEW Nigeria conference on behalf of ICAN on Good Governance and Regulation in Civil Society as part of haysmacintyes’ Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

It is hoped that the lecture and discussions, which centred on experiences from the UK regulatory environment, will add to the debate and promotion of a more robust regulatory regime for Nigerian charities. There were some innovative ideas considered – such as a “charity” levy on corporates wishing to invest and operate in the country which would put Nigeria on the map in terms of a unique approach to ensuring that business supports community.
