Attended my first UK Fashion & Textiles event last week with guest speakers including Tanya Sarne the founder of Ghost and her new label, handwritten, Angela Quaintrell, former buyer at Liberty and export sales manager of Shirin Guild and Roger Wade, ex-owner of Boxfresh and director of Brands Incorporated.
Some interesting key points to watch out for were raised including best way to penetrate US market drawing on each individuals experience, dealing with the vast size of the US, promoting your label and negotiating a savvy deal with local stockists. The attendees were a mix of UK Fashion & Textiles members, like myself, and also potential members all from various backgrounds in fashion. After the seminar I met the fabulous founder of Blues and Browns, Kairen Powell, who kept me thoroughly entertained with her remarkable ability to put on an array of accents! It is clear to see why she is so well loved by her customers designing distinctive and exclusive ladies wear. I have caught up with her again today on the phone and look forward to meeting with her again in September.
Look forward to hosting an event for UK Fashion and Textiles members at our offices in the near future.
